Mission America – Miracle Days 22-25
Dateline, Friday, June 19, 2009 - Atlanta, GA
![]() Monday, June 15, 2009, Day 22 - Arriving in Atlanta the first night we stayed with my son. He has a small house; he welcomed us with open arms. We knew we could not stay there five women, husband and wife, four children and four dogs. ![]() ![]() Tuesday, June 16, 2009, Day 23 - Beverly had already put a request before arriving for 5 missionary women needing a place. We had four responses and we were praising God. We decided to check about the one in Alpharetta, it seemed to be in a safer neighborhood and the gentleman was a Christian, it was the basement of his house, two bedroom, bathroom, front room and kitchen. Arriving we met Craig, he was quiet. Due to different responses through email, phone calls, and his quiet matter of fact attitude, I told Beverly, he is probably an engineer, brilliant and shy at the same time. He greeted us as we drove into his driveway. ![]() Bingo! I could tell immediately. He was a brilliant man. He took us through the basement, gave us some ground rules, (I had to giggle inside for I knew we weren’t partiers, drinkers, smokers, and we don’t chew nor go with boys that do.) But, he didn’t know us and as we began to talk I could see his wall come down. We liked the place and it was only 15 minutes from my son’s home, and 45 minutes from town center. ![]() A great benefit as missionaries to America in Atlanta is I have the blessing of being able to see my son, his wife and his children while laboring for the Lord. The apartment needed just a little bit of cleaning and we needed to get settled. Ever seen the old western movies of those old vagabonds that carry a stick and their clothes wrapped in a handkerchief going from place to place, I prayed, “Lord I don’t want to feel like a little vagabond and I don’t want to move from house to house, we need a place for the whole three weeks.” Another gentleman called and offered us a place for four to five weeks but it seemed a little far. The basement apartment seems like such a quiet place. We are praying for favor, as we do our work here, maybe we will be allowed at least three weeks. Waking up the following day, I discovered, we have a problem. Our bodies are still on San Diego time. We tend to stay up without even knowing it past 1:00 am. Not good for early morning “reveille”. We’ve been trying to get up at 5:00; don’t know if Beverly is sleeping on her alarm or shutting it off. Rhonda snores like a freight train all wrapped up in her grandma’s blanket, and Jill is way underneath her blanket wrapped in puppy dogs. Kaweah took one a private room, she is snoring like a caboose, and I have to admit, I’m sleeping like a baby, swinging in the lullaby tree. Waking up I realize its light! I jump out of bed; I think this house is too comfortable only to discover it’s after 8 am. I run into the other rooms, “Get up, get up, we are not on vacation!” Of course they crawl out of bed with snail speed. Our first day in Atlanta we decided we would just regroup, have a meeting, you know one of those meetings, after being in tight quarters, there is just a little iron sharpening iron. Once the airs clear and all sparks gone, we read and pray, forgive, we discover the presence of the Holy Ghost once again. Now that we are in this little apartment, we have discovered we need a few amenities, like dish soap, toilet paper, and a little bit of food for now we have stove and refrigerator, yahoo! No more dollar meals. Did I tell you we are getting skinny? Psyche! Not that skinny. This day will be for getting our bedding squared away, unpack tracts, and preparing for tomorrow, we will head to downtown Atlanta. P.S. Don’t forget to pray for Craig the gentleman who allowed us to stay in his basement apartment. Did I forget to tell you, he is an awesome violinist! When we said yes, we would love his basement home, I asked to play a sample of his violin. As we were leaving, he said come on up and he took us up stairs to his little entry room, there stood a music stand, violin case and couch. He sat down and he said I have been practicing his little piece. As he held up Bach, I had to laugh ok Bach. I knew he was a genius. He turned around and pulled out the violin and reached for an old Baptist hymnal and he played about three short songs. What an amazing gift. I’m excited to see all God has planned for this man. Craig is a treasure that is hidden. Please pray for him, I discovered he was just laid off from his job. Pray, God give him a better job than he had before, making double the money, even though he lost his job, he took us in and didn’t charge us one penny. Pray the blessings of Abraham upon him. AMEN! Thursday, June 18, 2009, Day 25 - Setting the alarm for 5:00 am, knowing we had to get our bodies and minds set to Atlanta time. Which would be 2:00 am, San Diego time, boy what a sight. Have you ever watched Frankenstein’s’ bride in the old black and white films. Five women walking around like Frankenstein’s brides but at least we were up. Dressed cleaned, Jill made breakfast. Guest what we had! Ramen noodles and eggs! Like a Korean meal, Scrumptious! Better than a 99¢ hamburger. ![]() Beverly reached out to witness to a man and instantly he started to manifest. He was Muslim with black bandana, started screaming and hollering. At the same time, the team spread out and started witnessing. Rhonda keyboard in hand, Kaweah with music just in case we could find a plug to set up. We took no more than ten steps and everyone began to witness, and all of a sudden, mega monster speakers out of no where about blew out our eardrums. We found ourselves witnessing in high volume. We all kind of looked at each other and I said, “You think the devil knows we are here? We are not stopping let’s go.” I went directly to people that had the speakers. I just knew if I found speakers, and amps there had to be a microphone somewhere. The guy looked at me as I said, “Do you need me to help with your sound?” He saw our t-shirts, Mission America and he semi- smiled. I asked, “Are you a Christian?” He smiled and said, “Yes.” I said, “We have a vocalist right here, can she sample your speakers and microphone?” He almost gave in then said, “No, I better not!” One thing we accomplished while I was speaking to him, (real loud), he shut off the loud music, now we can go witnessing again, without feeling we need a blow horn. I was saddened by what I saw in that park today, everywhere I went, some people were on crystal meth, demoniacs, women dressed like harlots, and the park workers in a fog; everybody said they were a Christian. ![]() We found a pavilion out of the sun, and a small captive audience. I said, “Come on Rhonda,” she was a little nervous. I looked at Kaweah and she looked at me with that look, “Mom, are we singing?” I nodded and said, “Come on, let’s sing.” I didn’t wait for Kaweah or Rhonda to start, I started singing, “In the name of Jesus,” and they joined in. Before we knew it, people were coming from all different directions. Some were sitting down at the tables; we had church. We sang about 5 or 6 songs as I looked around, I thought, “I’m going to preach as well!” I started preaching, and gave an altar call. As I looked across I saw a precious black man listening to the whole sermon, tears were rolling down his cheeks, another gentleman came closer, he turned and was mesmerized and listened. Men, women, and children were sitting there listening; I shared the urgency of the hour and pulled an altar call, before you knew it our team was praying with different people. We were having church on a Thursday afternoon, in the midst of this force of darkness, the Holy Spirit came and we had dominion. There is a harvest to be won and I am burdened to put up our tent. Please pray, I need a location for the tent, immediately! Returning back home, we were tired and lost, the GPS did not have signal and we left the map at home. Driving along as far as we could by remembrance, we were at least heading in the direction of home. Well! We went as far as we could remember. Help! We are lost! Thank God for mercy and grace. We found the way home, when we arrived, we were “Starvin’ Marvin,” I went to the kitchen to start dinner, the girls went to walk the dogs and before you knew it; we were settled to rest. Craig came to the door and brought map to the MARTA, I thought, “How thoughtful this man is, and so kind and it is just what we are looking for.” A bigger surprise, with his straight, stern, and serious look, reached out his hand and handed me 5 tickets with five passes on each ticket for the MARTA. I looked at him, I knew the cost, he blessed us again. I said, “Thank you so much.” I thought to myself, “This man is so kind,” and then he turned around and just walked out! Did I forgot to tell you the night before, he brought to our door, TV, DVD player and great Highway to Heaven movies with Michael Landon in case we wanted to watch movies at night. He also hooked up wireless so we could use our computers. I tell you he is a treasure!!! Thank God for Craig, again please don’t forget to pray for him. And all of you single women reading this. No, I don’t know whether or not he is married. “Smile” That was it for the evening, except the power went out about 8:00pm and now we were sitting in the dark. Jill was looking out the window, she said, “Come and look at the fireflies,” I had never seen them before. I was waiting for Tinkerbelle to show up, and Rhonda was looking for a mason jar and asked, "Do you want me to catch some?” Rhonda used to catch fireflies when she was a little girl. As we sat in the dark, we discovered it was a power surge and again Craig came to our rescue he brought us candles. Tomorrow we will find a lot. Please pray! There are millions of people hurting in Atlanta, and in need of Jesus! |
