Mission America - Day 4
Mission America – God’s Divine Appointments - Day 4
Dateline, May 28, 2009.
Realizing we mingled around the campground sharing Jesus with everyone. I also was trying to catch up on business papers that took me most of the morning. I sat at a picnic table, umbrella in one hand, from the sporadic rainfall, and on the computer. The team busy packing and cleaning, preparing to leave this campground because our cabin was rented for the night.

The lady across from our little cabin, smiled as she saw us with all of shirts, she said, “I am a Christian.” She asked me, “What are you guys doing?” I shared with her our mission, she started to tear up. She said, “I am so touched because America is in great need, I sit on my mission board at church, and I’m going to tell them of your mission and ask them to get behind you. While we support all around the world, America goes to hell.” She waved her hand to try to stop the tears, she was so moved. I told her about our trailer and she said, “I’m going to go get my camera and take a picture of it.” Sure enough, she did. She came back a few hours later, when we were closing up and said, “Again, I’m so touched by your mission,” she reached out and gave me $40 and said, “This is all I have on me right now, I want to bless your mission.” She didn’t know she was paying for our next campground. I gave her one of my books, and Kaweah sang her a song. I told them to go get one of Kaweah’s CD’s, “He Is Risen,” and I gave it to her, her name was Jackie, what a blessing to meet her.

While we were getting ready to leave the campground, a friend named, Azalea called, Beverly was rejoicing when she said, “I would like to have you guys over for dinner, homemade Mexican food.” Beverly smiled from ear-to-ear and said, “Hallelujah, a hot dinner, that’s God!” Then she added, Azalea has four bedrooms, we could stay overnight, again Beverly jumped for joy, after all she has slept on the floor for three nights. I asked Beverly, “Did you tell her we had four missionary dogs? Call her back.” Beverly came back walking with her head hanging low, “I guess it’s not God, she has two Akita-Chow dogs who take pleasure in killing other small animals; including all cats and small dogs.” No wonder they had two acres, double fenced. We opted, NO, that is not God! (So much for homemade Mexican food, and comfortable beds)

Driving out of the KOA campground, we were amazed people were yelling from all directions, “God bless you, see you later, blessings on you, grace of God be with you!” I felt like were in a parade. (Smile)

Azalea met us in the parking lot of OfficeMax to say hello and look at the trailer, when a young man was crossing the street right in front of us. He had earphones in his ear and a black t-shirt with blood dripping off the words, which read, “Cannibal Corpse,” it must have been a band. Beverly ran to catch him. She told him when Jesus was here, he did not go around saying, “’Jesus, loves you,’ he said, ‘repent for the kingdom of God is at hand!’” She could smell the alcohol on his breath and it was only lunch time. She asked him if he knew what repent meant and he gave the correct biblical explanation, so she knew he was brought up in church. He prayed and repented and came to say hello to the whole group, God’s timing, our friend Azalea, who lives in the area was still there, we gave her his name, number and address so she could follow up on him. He was grateful.

Not knowing our next campground location, we had to stop at Wal-Mart to pick up an extra tent. Ever seen monsoon rains? It’s like God opened up the water fountain of Heaven and it poured straight down. Buying our tent and a few things we needed, we heard the storm was going to last for hours, we found out there was a military recreational facility in the same direction as our route to Prescott. Most of the day was gone, by filling out important paperwork which had to be done. I could not see driving a couple hours and not knowing our next location in this crazy rain. I told Beverly, the detective, get the directions to the military recreation facility and that’s where we headed.

Standing in the line to check out at Wal-Mart, right behind us was a beautiful young girl, probably no more than 28 years old, she put down three packs of shot glasses, Jill and I looked at her, the shot glasses, then at each other. Jill pulled out one of our little gospel tracts, “Jesus is coming back, are you ready?” Jill told her, “You know I used to drink everyday.” The girl got a little nervous and started smiling, looked at the shot glasses, looked at Jill and sheepishly said, “These aren’t for me!” Jill just smiled and said, “Yeah, that’s what I used to say.” Jill warmed her heart as she shared her testimony. We walked out of Wal-Mart together, so we could complete the witness. When we got outside the door, she was tearing up as she said, “This is weird, I went to two churches searching for God, but I was afraid. After that I said, just forget it, I’ll read my Bible and do this on my own.” We led her to Jesus right there coming out of the door of Wal-Mart that was a God appointment. No wonder the rains came, to everything under God’s heaven there is a time and a season.

We headed off to find the other campground, the cabins were too expensive, so we were going to sleep in tents. As we were driving to our campsite, I looked around the corner and saw a small yurt (the same kind we are planning for the Prayer Mountain). Going back to the desk and asking for the cost, we found out we could rent a yurt for $25, only problem, no dogs allowed in the yurt. We started unpacking, set up our bedding and figured out we would put our dog cage on the deck of the yurt, until the man from the desk, who already had a problem with us the minute he saw our shirts. (He had a problem with Jesus), he was sarcastic and rude the minute we walked in to the reception desk.

Later, he came flying over, his almost 500 pound body stuffed in a mini two-seater golf cart, four wheeling up the little road to where our yurt was, dropped his voice in low gear and told Kaweah, “Get those dogs off the porch, you are going to have to leave!” I knew our dogs were not the issue! We were surrounded by a Great Dane, two Chows, English Springer and bunch of Chihuahuas. There is just something about that powerful name of Jesus, they either love ya or hate ya! Then he went back to his desk in his little cart down the windy little road, golf cart tilting to one side, back to the office. Finishing up some computer work, Beverly went to fax some paperwork, he noticed her t-shirt, once again, he lowered his voice into low gear, “Are you with that group in the yurt? No dogs on the porch, you understand?” I heard him from the other room, and I knew he was picking on us. I sat and prayed for about 60 seconds, waited for Beverly to come back in, I told her, “Finish up the work I’ll be right back.”

I walked out there, looked at him right in the eye and asked, “Can I have the name of your manager and phone number, Sir?” He looked at me and said, “Why?” I said because I need it right now, may I get the name and number of your manager, Sir.” He looked at me and I could tell he was getting a little nervous, I said, “We are a team of five single women and I’m not going to throw one of the young ladies in a tent in a far corner of your campground, in this rain. I’m going to put those dogs on the ground in a cage and I’m going to set a tent right next to my yurt. Can I have the number to your manager, Sir?” I could tell we were in for a stare down, I felt like I was in a Clint Eastwood movie, the good, the bad, and the ugly… He backed down, he said, “Ok, that’s fine.” I said, “Thank you, I don’t need the manager’s name and number then.” By this time, Kaweah was all shook up, “What are we gonna do? They are going to kick us out, it’s raining!” Kaweah was in a panic, she was dragging the tent down the road to the far away tent site in the rain. I got Jill and Kaweah, “Come on back here, it’s all settled.” Repositioning the tent, and putting the dog cage inside the tent, Beverly with her bed gear and extra blankets, she was sleeping in the dog motel. By the way, the rain continued on throughout most of the day.

What an exciting day! Krista prayed to get saved at Walmart; Dallas in the parking lot of OfficeMax, and eight year old, Destiny in the bathroom before we left the Flagstaff KOA, Praise the Lord!
