Mission America – Miracle - Day 5 Dateline, May 29, 2009. Waking up at 4:45 a.m. with freezing temperatures, I heard a noise outside, only to find Beverly walking the dogs. They were shaking like little leaves in the wind. I said, “My goodness, its cold!” She said, “It was so cold the dogs were freezing. I got up at 1 am, gave the dogs my blankets, bundled them up in their cage, and headed off to the office.” When I looked at Beverly, I realized she had on her white flowered pajamas, purple hat and a white sweater. Thank God no one was at the office, only the graveyard guy. I don’t know who had it better, Beverly in the warm office or us in the frozen yurt, thank God we were all out of the rain! Knowing we had to get to Prescott to prepare for our first tent meeting, even though it was Friday morning, I knew it was important for us to find a campground, so we could get organized. While I was at the main office uploading “Day 4” and faxing some final paperwork, I noticed they served free coffee, I said, "Yee haw!" It didn’t take long to get my cup, I went out of the coffee area back to do some writing, then went back in to get my 2nd cup of coffee. I was just thinking, “Well, Lord, what are we going to have for breakfast?” It rained all night so we did not have any dry wood to make a campfire. As I reached for the coffee pot, right beside it was a beautiful platter, there were exactly five beautiful, fresh, unbelievable bagels, two bananas a little thing of cream cheese, and in beautiful writing, marked “Free!” I just smiled, they weren’t there just five minutes ago, I said, “Beverly come here, call the girls, God has provided our breakfast!” Isn’t God good, in Matthew it says, “Give us this day our daily bread!” He did! God shows Him faithful! While checking out, there was pretty wild, young girl working. On her forearm from the wrist to the elbow, there was tattooed a wild horse. I told her, “Pretty nice horse.” She smiled, laughed and said, “Not wicked enough!” She said, “This horse looks like a Barbie doll horse, it was supposed to look like the headless horseman’s’ horse, WICKED.” I knew right then, I was to witness to her. I said, “Wicked? Girl, why do you want wicked?” I told her right away, “Jesus loves you, you wild girl! I used to be a wild girl, but Jesus changed my whole life, God can use you. Have you ever received Jesus?” She answered, “No, but when I was little they dunked me in water.” “You mean baptized?” She said, “Yeah, if that’s what you call it.” I laughed, and said, “Here let me lead you to Jesus.” She looked at me, had a tear in her eye and a nervous little laugh, “My grandmother would love you,” she said. I told her, “A grandmother who prays shakes heaven, and changes a nation. That’s why I’m here today, your grandmother’s been praying for you.” Her cool front was rapidly disappearing; I reached my hand over the counter and said, “It’s time to get saved.” She knew exactly what I was saying. I gave her the address of Pastor Weidinger’s church; “This is the church to go to, Ok!” I said goodbye. Everybody loaded in the car and truck, I walked around the trailer to make sure everything was in order; locks on the doors, the hitch secured, the back of the truck tied down correctly. Everything was a.o.k. and thank God the skies were clear. We headed on the road towards Prescott, Interstate 40. What a beautiful drive, when we stopped to put gas, I noticed a few snow capped mountains, no wonder we were freezing. Driving closer to Prescott, what a scene, unbelievable cumulus silver, white lined grey to dark gray clouds, it was like God had a whole bunch of cotton balls up there. I’m hoping to upload some pictures; you don’t see much of those in San Diego. Deer to the right of the road, pine trees and cedars everywhere, not trying to make you jealous or anything, just makes you see how awesome our God is! Arriving in Prescott, about 11:30 a.m., we parked the truck and I started calling for a campground, almost every single one of them were booked, and guess what, no cabins available for a decent price. Hotels were running between $70 up to $150 a night, we needed to find a place for a week to prepare for our tent meeting, and I was not going to pay those prices. Looking up in the sky I could tell those clouds were coming in again, I thought, Praise the Lord, in everything give him praise. I left Kaweah and Rhonda and the four dogs with the truck, and knew that time was of the essence. I jumped in Rhonda’s car, got a map of Prescott and a phone book and started our search. Up and down and around we went, what a beautiful little town, (Dr. Laurie, your mall is going to do great!). Finding nothing, I realized this is why we bought a tent the day before, finding only one camp ground; where they at least had showers and electricity. Ok! So it was a little scary. A couple of demoniacs here and there, Finding nothing, I realized this is why we bought a tent the day before, finding only one camp ground; where they at least had showers and electricity. Ok! So it was a little scary. A couple of demoniacs here and there, but there was a bright spot in the middle of this place. One of the workers at the Willow RV Park looked like Grizzly Adams, he was sitting in a golf cart dressed for Arizona weather; shorts, t-shirt and a hat to protect from the sun. Something was different about him; he had a sparkle in his blue eyes. When he saw our t-shirts, he asked, “What is Mission America?” we told him with confidence who we were, not to be confused with Mormon missionaries. I asked him, “What about you? Are you a Christian?” He answered, “Yes,” without wavering and welcomed us to Prescott. After we checked in, he came by our first tent site to see if we were all right, when he stood up he towered over me at 6’4”. He asked if I wanted to see his photo album, he said he was a photographer. His photos were incredible!!! The landscapes are beautiful, yet, it takes an artist’s eye for the quality of Larry’s pictures. You never know who you are going to meet at a campground. I’ve realized on our journey the Lord has treasures hidden everywhere. They put us in the farthest end of the campground saying this is the best place for tents, I have to admit it was a beautiful location, BUT, when I heard a humming sound, doing a lot of camping in my younger years, I knew that sound was familiar. I said, “Ladies you better pull out the Skin-So-Soft and OFF, that humming sound is a swarm of mosquitoes and they’re coming in for a smorgasbord and we’re on the menu!” Just about the time I finished that sentence, I got bit behind the ear, on my cheek, on my ankle, on my forearm on my hand. Kaweah was making a mad dash for the Skin-So-Soft, I thought she was bringing it to me, she instantly rubbed all the dogs down, I said, “Help, I’m being attacked somebody come and rescue me.” Beverly taking a bath in it, while rubbing herself down said, “Pastor did you need this?” She said, “Oh my, you got bit up!” One hand was frantically swatting the mosquitoes, the other hand trying to get on the Skin-So-Soft. I think the mosiquitos thought that was dessert. Rhonda was squirming up and down, side to side, I asked, “Rhonda, are you ok?” She said, “Yes!” In an instant, she ran like lightning, I asked her, “Where are you going?” She said, “I gotta go!” She ran behind a bush and made her own squat pot, funny, when she came out of from behind the bush, she was smiling from ear-to-ear. I said, “I hope you put Skin-So-Soft on that bottom”. She said, “I had to go!” Well, we were there for about two hours, set up all our tents and everyone had to go to the bathroom. Realizing they parked us in China, there was no phone reception, and we were surrounded by poison oak, we headed towards the office. Kaweah felt real uneasy about our location, she said, “Mom, I’m a little nervous, it looks like a scary area.” I didn’t want to tell her I passed a half-a-dozen demoniacs. We headed to the office and I looked around. I told the gentleman, “Sir, please put us up closer.” He was a little bit hesitant, I said a quick prayer under my breath, “Lord, give us favor.” Finally, he nodded and said, “Ok.” By this time, Beverly had already conked out in the little tent, snoring like a freight train, from not sleeping the night before, Jill had already gathered wood and was preparing for fire when I walked up and said, “We’re moving girls.” We decided, we didn’t want to tear the tents all the way apart, so each of us picked up a corner one of the domed tents, and marched about a half a mile and carried it all the way to the new location. What a sight! Finally, now just a hop, skip and a jump away from the bathrooms, and water we realized something we didn’t have as many mosquitoes. He didn’t tell us, just right over the rocks from our first location was a lake, what do you think mosquitoes like? Water! Only Amber got saved today, we won’t tell you about the 30 people who rejected Jesus, but we are doing our job and God will deal with them, it has been a glorious day, Amen!
