Mission America – Miracle - Day 6 Dateline, May 30, 2009. Up at 4:45 a.m. and excited to set up our first tent meeting in Arizona. Upon our arrival, I saw a parking lot in front of an Assembly of God church as we drove into to Prescott the first day. I felt it might be perfect, it’s always nice to work with a Spirit-filled church, so the new Christians will have a place to grow. Going back to the location to find someone from the church, I found a young man named Adam; he is the Youth Pastor, what a wonderful Spirit. We shared about our Mission, he seemed excited. It is a great opportunity for them, it will draw people to their church and the Holy Spirit will draw people long after we leave the area. Waiting for the Senior Pastor’s permission to “OK,” the lot, we wait! At the same time, we will look for a back-up lot in case the answer is, “No.” Looking around the campground, I see so many needs, some people live in this location, and many are hurting. Tomorrow is Sunday, so I will have an outside service under the small pavilion at the camp ground on Sunday morning, no sense in wasting time! We headed out to look for a library to upload and keep contact, seeing how we have no phone reception in our campground. Driving and studying the layout of the land for our outreach, this is a perfect place for our tent meeting. At the library, we had the privilege to share with two gang bangers, Cyrus and Ricky, tattoos on their necks, saggin’ and baggin’, they had been drinking and it was only 12 noon. Sharing Jesus, they were both open and prayed they will come to the tent meeting. While we finished praying with them, two other teens about 18 years old walked by; one with screaming lime-green hair, the other with bright yellow, color crayon hair. Giving them a full witness they listened, the young girl with lime green hair said, “I was raised in church, I don’t want to listen, I can do what I want to now.” She was angry; we shall keep her in prayer. Getting back to the campground, God is amazing! There are no coincidences with the Lord; the man in the R.V. Parked right next to us named Rex, looked so broken inside. The more I talked to him, I realized he was a backslider; his mother raised him in the Word. As a young boy of 16, he was thrown out of church after he was caught sleeping with the pastor’s wife who as 12 years older than him. I could see the hurt; he was 63 years old and has never been back to church. I told him, “Jesus set him next to our camp for a reason. God’s love is never ending!!” I shared how the devil set him up and used this woman to seduce him, to steal God’s plan from his life. He started to weep, broken inside. I said, “God loves you Rex! He shook His head, “No, I’m going to hell for what I did, the church hissed at me as they threw me out of the church.” This man said, “This was the day I drank my first drink and smoked my first cigarette.” He was so self-condemned, the devil had lied to this man, I prayed for him. Rex is his name we have three days before he leaves camp, the Holy Spirit sent us to show the love of Jesus to him. Getting permission for a church service we blanketed the campground of about 100 different campsites, we went trailer-to-trailer, tent-to-tent, inviting everyone to church, for tomorrow, which will be Sunday! We put out over 200 gospel tracts today, and we prayed for salvation with Cyrus and Ricky at the library, praise God! Copyright Dr. Luauna Stines, May 2009 |
